LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT: They Got Rich Selling You the Cure

You Followed Every Rule. And Somehow Got Sicker.

Between 1976 and 2026 obesity rates tripled. Not because people stopped trying. Not because Americans suddenly became lazy or careless. But because the information they were handed was wrong. Deliberately, profitably wrong.

They told you fat would kill you. So you ate low fat everything. And they quietly replaced that fat with sugar, corn syrup, and industrial seed oils while charging you a premium for the privilege.

They told you red meat causes cancer. So you swapped your steak for processed grain based alternatives. And the studies they used to scare you never bothered to distinguish between a grass fed ribeye and a gas station hot dog.

They told you to fear the sun. So you covered yourself in chemical laden sunscreen while your vitamin D levels tanked, your mood dropped, and your immune system quietly struggled.

They told you breakfast was the most important meal of the day. So generations of Americans started every morning with a bowl of sugar marketed by a cartoon tiger and called it nutrition.

And through all of it, they got rich. Very rich.

What We Are Actually Talking About

This is not a conspiracy theory. This is a pattern. And once you see it, you cannot unsee it.

The low fat movement did not emerge from a genuine concern for public health. It emerged from flawed science, industry lobbying, and a food system that needed a villain. Fat became the villain. Sugar became the replacement. And the pharmaceutical industry was waiting on the other end with medications for the obesity, the diabetes, and the metabolic disease that followed.

The red meat conversation followed the same playbook. Lump the clean with the contaminated. Create fear around the whole category. Profit from the alternatives.

The sunscreen industry understood exactly what it was doing when it convinced an entire population to fear free medicine that grows their own vitamin D, regulates their circadian rhythm, boosts their serotonin, and has been used therapeutically for centuries. They called it heliotherapy before the propaganda came along.

And John Harvey Kellogg, the man who invented breakfast cereal, coined the phrase breakfast is the most important meal of the day himself. Because he needed to sell a product. And it worked brilliantly. For him.

What Your Body Actually Needs

Here is what I want you to walk away with.

You are not sick. You are depleted. And there is a profound difference between those two things.

Chronic fatigue, brain fog, hormonal imbalance, depression, stubborn weight. These are almost never treated with the one thing that could actually address them. Real food. Sunlight. Quality fat. Clean protein. The basics that require no prescription and generate no profit.

Every cell in your body is wrapped in fat. Your brain runs on it. Your hormones are built from it. Your fat soluble vitamins cannot be absorbed without it. And yet you were told to fear it.

Grass fed red meat is one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. Complete protein, iron, zinc, B12, CoQ10, omega 3 fatty acids. And yet you were told it would give you cancer.

Sunlight triggers vitamin D production, boosts serotonin, regulates sleep, and has been shown to lower rates of multiple sclerosis, certain cancers, cardiovascular disease, and depression. And yet you were told to stay inside and lather on chemicals.

The problem was never the fat. The problem was never the steak. The problem was never the sun.

The problem was what they replaced them with. And who profited from the replacement.

Want to Go Deeper?

In the latest episode of the Mindful Healing podcast, Love It or Leave It: They Got Rich Selling You the Cure, I go through the biggest health lies ever sold to the public one by one with my honest unfiltered clinical take. What I love. What I leave. And what the science actually says.

I also share my favorite local farm, the clean shopping apps I use every single day, and the moment TSA stopped me at Newark Airport over a cooler full of steaks. You are not going to want to miss that one.

Go listen. And then go eat some butter.

You are not broken. You are not a medical mystery. You are a human being who was sold a set of lies that made other people extraordinarily wealthy.

And now you know better.

Wishing you love, light, and continued healing.
